Crystallization

Albert Park,Middlesbrough. Core Ten steel. Various dimensions 50–75cm high. 2004.

Client: Middlesbrough Council

Albert Park was donated to the people of Middlesbrough by the founders of the local iron and steelworks and these fabricated core ten steel sculptures were created to remind people that Middlesbrough would not have been created if iron ore were not discovered in the nearby Eston Hills. Crystallisation aims to represent this important discovery while simultaneously aiming to symbolise the changing nature of modern Middlesbrough and its future prosperity.
