Seeds

Helios Residences,Orchard,Singapore, SG Cast Iron, 2 No. x 5m x 1.3m x 1m, 2011. Client: Wing Tai Holdings.

In 2010 Andrew was asked by Wing Tai Holdings, Singapore to create a new and much larger version of his ‘Seed’ sculpture for a new apartment complex in Singapore. The sculpture differed from the original as each seed was set apart and at an angle to the other which gives the piece an interesting dynamic. The scale of this sculpture at five metres tall and fifteen tonnes is impressive. Set within a pool of water ‘Seeds’ isn’t a sculpture you can feel or touch, however the interplay between each of the seeds is reflected in the water below which creates a contrast between the modern architecture and the natural form, between the permanence of the iron and transience of the water.
